After dominating the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets in the first and second round of the Western Conference respectively, the Los Angeles Lakers have taken a 2-0 lead against Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets.
With key players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis for the Lakers and Murray and Nikola Jokic for the Nuggets being at their best, the final round in the West has to come down to the kind of work the role-players do on the court.
One man who sat for the entire series against the Rockets and was destined to play a massive role against the gifted center in the Joker is Dwight Howard.
Howard is the kind of man who saw the world give up on him after he struggled to move from team to team. Even when the Lakers hired him, they did so for a 10-day contract. It was only on the basis of his grit and sheer determination, that the former Orlando Magic megastar was able to resurface as a legit center in the world’s most competitive basketball league.
We got in touch with NBA legend and three-time NBA champion Bruce Bowen, to talk about the incredible journey Howard has been till now whether he will finally be able to win his maiden title in ‘Purple and Gold’ and here’s what he had to say:
“Sometimes as we get older, we become more understanding of our abilities and our limitations. Obviously, Howards is not that individual, that athlete that he used to be back in Orlando but it is not hard to play with LeBron James and be successful. We have seen a lot of guys play with LeBron James and all of a sudden their production goes up.”
