2020 Is Turning Out To Be The Worst Year For Basketball Fans & It’s Only Been Three Months

The year 2020 has already turned out to be the most heart-breaking season in recent history and it has only been 3 months.

Earlier this week the league owners, players association and NBA commissioner Adam Silver held a conference to decide whether the reminder of the regular season should be conducted behind closed doors without the attendance of fans in the arena amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

However, there was a shocking revelation in the morning that Utah Jazz’s starting center, Rudy Gobert, has been tested positive for COVID-19. The NBA took immediate action to suspend all further games and announced that the NBA season (2019-20) is suspended until future notice.

Later in the day, it was also discovered that Gobert’s teammate and arguably the best player on the Jazz roster, Donavan Mitchell has also been tested positive with the highly contagious disease.

The string of events sent shock-waves around the league with superstars like LeBron James and Stephen Curry tweeting about the year 2020 and how it “needs to be canceled”.

In these past 3 months the NBA community has suffered through the loss of the OG commissioner David Stern and the horrific helicopter crash of the NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.

This has perhaps been the most unfortunate start of the year in a NBA season.

Moreover, if the season ends prior to April 1, according to NBA law 6.23; the team with the best record in the previous weekend’s games shall be crowned the NBA Champion which would be the Los Angeles Lakers.

It is however highly unlikely that the league will take such actions to crown a team as a NBA Champion without conducting the Playoffs as it is the main source of revenue for the league and the teams.

Hopefully this pandemic is controlled in the near future and no further players are affected by the COVID-19 virus.
