Meet 15-Year-Old Harsh Dagar, 6'2 guard at the NBA Academy India

Harsh Dagar is a Gurgaon-born baller who is a massive Kyrie Irving fan and appreciates his ‘Mamba Mentality’ which allows him to take over the game completely on his own.

A part of the NBA Academy India for nearly two years, Harsh ranked No. 1 in the world on the academy’s shooting drill as of March 17th 2020. He wears No. 15 and No. 24 at the back of his jersey and loves to practice and play at the academy. According to his coaches, he “trains like a beast.”

However, ever since the coronavirus pandemic, the young scorer has been restricted to hooping in the driveway of his house. But even the virus couldn’t stop him. Harsh has created a hoop for himself and practices all kinds of shots including floaters, euro-steps and long-range bombs.

“I noticed that NBA players had hoops at their homes, where they’d practice,” Dagar told NBA DAB over the phone. “That’s where I got the idea from.”

In August of 2019, he helped India attain their only win at the Jr. NBA Global Championships scoring 26 points against Latin America. Later last year, he was also a member of the Indian national squad and won a gold medal at the 13th South Asian Games 2019 in Nepal.
