The Philadelphia 76ers have slipped down to the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference and have lost six of their last 10 games. Ever since a huge victory against the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day, the 76ers have been struggling to find a rhythm on the offensive end.
While Embiid's absence from the team does hurt them, the main cause of this problem has been their All-Star Point Guard, Ben Simmons, who refuses to adapt to the modern style of play.
After losing four straight games since Christmas, Embiid publicly stated that everyone has to make sacrifices to their game and do things that make them feel uncomfortable in order for them to win a championship. This comment was clearly directed towards Simmons, as being a low post player, Joel Embiid has made an effort to shoot more from beyond the arc.
According to me, 76ers offence will continue to struggle as the paint is crowded as both Simmons
and Embiid prefer to play near the low post. Simmons has to free up the lane (attempting more
shots from outside the paint) for Embiid as he initiates the offence.
This entire season has been a disappointment for 76ers fans, as they were projected to challenge the Bucks for the first seed, however teams like the Miami Heat with only one real all-star and the Toronto Raptors, having lost Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green, are outplaying them.
It is high time the Sixers management decides either to trade Simmons or Embiid as they both
cannot co-exist and win a championship with similar style of play. Even the game’s greatest athletes like LeBron James and Michael Jordan surrounded themselves with all-time great shooters like Ray Allen and Steve Kerr that helped them win multiple championships.
What do you guys think? Should the 76ers trade Simmons or Embiid?
