While Chris Paul Proves Haters Wrong Yet Again, Is Westbrook The Reason For Houston’s Misery?

The Houston Rockets were heavy favourites to close of the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 after the blow-out win in Game 5. Most young teams have the tendency to lose moral after a disappointing performance like that but the OKC is an exception as they are led by the most talented Point ‘GOD’ in our league history who goes by the name Chris Paul.

Throughout the game Houston Rockets kept going on scoring runs at the beginning of every quarter but the OKC responded with runs of their own.

The CP3-led franchise topped the league in win percentage during clutch situation (final 5 minutes of the game) and this game was no different. The Rockets came out blazing hot by going on a 10-0 to start the fourth. However Oklahoma played some fantastic defense and forced them to cause several turnovers.

In the final two minutes of the game, Chris Paul took it upon himself to score the final 8 points (including two clutch threes against staggering in-his-face defense) for the Thunder as they force Game 7.

For a team with championship aspirations, the Rockets should not be in this situation; fighting in a

rugged Game 7 in the First Round, against a team that had a 0.2% chances of making it to the Playoffs in the mighty Western Conference.

Houston did not take care of the ball as they had more turnovers (22) than assists (19) in Game 6. However, the major concern for them should be the performance of their superstars in endgame situation, especially Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook made his Playoff debut for the Rockets in Game 5 after dealing with injuries ever since the start of the Bubble but it’s inexcusable for him to shoot a rather embarrassing air ball and turn over the ball twice in the final minutes of such a close game.

Rockets have to execute better down the stretch if they wish to advance to the next round to face

the Los Angeles Lakers. If Harden and Westbrook get eliminated by Chris Paul and the Thunder, it would be a huge blow to their respective legacies as they would be remembered by most media personnel as the all-time greats who chocked up in the Playoffs, against a team who wasn't even supposed to be there.
