Sometimes the NBA franchises make a mistake in judging the actual worth of the basketball player and end up giving them a lot more than they truly deserve. Here are six of the worst contracts in the history of the league:

6. Gilbert Arenas - $111 million (Washington Wizards)

Gilbert Arenas was considered to be a top-3 point guard in the NBA in the mid – 2000’s and the Wizards wanted to capitalize on his prime. They signed him for $111 million spanning up to 6 years. Though it was considered to be a great move at that time, plagued by injuries and controversial situations during his contract years landed the Wizards back into the lottery a couple of years later when they drafted John Wall with the Number One pick.

5. Grant Hill - $93 million (Orlando Magic)

The Magic finally got the superstar duo they wanted by signing the young and dynamic T-Mac and a prime guard in Grant Hill. However, this duo never saw the light of the day as both the superstars were riddled with injuries from the start. This was much worse for Hill as he nearly died due to a post-surgery staph infection. Hill later bounced back with a single all-star appearance and ended his career at the age of 40.

4. Bismack Biyombo - $68 million (Orlando Magic)

Biyombo for the most part was an average role player but with an impressive performance in the 2016 playoffs against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Magic offered him $68 million even though they had the services of all-star centre in Nikola Vucevic. You have got to give credit to Biyombo's agent for securing the bag.

3. Joakim Noah - $72 million (New York Knicks)

Noah was just a few years past his potential MVP campaign season in 2013 when he won the Defensive Player of the Year. This did not justify the Knicks offering him $72 million for four years in 2016 while every team could witness him falling off his prime. What made this even worse was that Noah only played 29 games in his first season and a total of 40 minutes the following year. Not everyone can survive the New York nightlife.

2. Timofey Mozgov - $64 million (Los Angeles Lakers)

No one in their right mind can explain why the Lakers offered Mozgov $64 million in the 2016 free agency when he played only 25 minutes in the 2016 NBA Finals. Even we do not know what to write or explain the series of events that led to it. Mozgov and $64 million, let that sink in!

1. Luol Deng - $72 million (Los Angeles Lakers)

2016 should be referred to as the year of bad contracts as the Lakers offered Deng $72 million at the age of 31 which should technically be considered 36 as he players most of his career with Tom Thibodeau. This contract was finally bought out two years back and the Lakers were able to salvage $7.5 million from him.
